| Instruction: |
Failure of the crankshaft thrust bearing on 1000 Series and Corvette 327 V-8 engines on vehicles equipped with Powerglide transmissions may be caused by "ballooning" of the converter under certain operating conditions especially those involving high RPM's. A design change was incorporated in Production effective with transmission Serial #B-116-D to alleviate this condition.
If a main bearing thrust surface failure occurs in a vehicle equipped with a transmission serial # prior to B-116-D or if the transmission is removed from the vehicle for any reason, the front pump should be modified as shown on Page 2. |
